Relaunching The English Rover
This is the official English Rover relaunch, and it feels good to finally say it. After a long break, I’m bringing this blog back with a clearer purpose and a proper sense of direction. The English Rover has always been about exploring the UK on foot. The hills, the moors, the coastlines, the hidden corners you only find when you step off the road and follow a trail. This relaunch is my chance to rebuild the site into something more structured, more useful, and more honest.
Over the coming months, you’ll see new hiking routes, wild‑camping notes, gear recommendations, hotel reviews from my travels, and deeper guides to the places that have shaped my journey. Whether you’re planning your first walk or looking for your next challenge, I want this space to be a practical resource for anyone who loves the outdoors.
What to Expect From The English Rover Relaunch
If you’re new here, these categories are the best place to start:
- Hiking Guides – routes, tips, and scenic trails
- Gear and Boots – what’s worth buying and why
- Travel and Places – from the Highlands to Derbyshire
- Reviews – hotels, trails, and experiences
If you want a taste of what’s already here, you can read my Portsonachan Hotel review, or my guide to Inverness, both of which were rebuilt as part of this relaunch.
For anyone planning a trip around the UK, VisitScotland and National Trails are great resources to pair with the guides I’ll be posting here.
And if you want to know more about who’s behind the blog, there’s a short introduction at the bottom of the homepage.
Thanks for being here. Grab your boots. We’ve got plenty to explore.
